Fearless

By Manya Chopra

She is tranquil, resting in peace;
Abominable was the world to her cries;
Vain was the inhumanity, so it did not cease,
To crown itself as a harbinger of her demise.

She was born, in the world so adorned,

With strokes of love and harmony
But the blemishes on it, were dark and rigid,
Which stained her soul, her peace, her euphony.

She grew up knowing, that the mankind was sowing,
The seeds of misery and violence
Like every kid, she was genteel and timid,
But lived her life with elegance.

Little did she know, her life would throw,
A bludgeon of revenge on her.
She loved her life, which instead was a strife,
Her existence, her esteem did stir.

She was brave, but the ‘monsters’ were braver,
They molested her unfathomably.
Her hopes were big, but their inhumanity was bigger,
Which made her oblivion, eventually.

For help she called, what was her fault?
The people glanced and passed by;
Crestfallen was her face, stained was her grace,
She prayed, she groaned, she cried.

Perishing was her body, shivering and undraped,
Her demise was not meant to tarry;
Conflicting was she, with her tyrannous fate,
Gruesome was the night that brought this drudgery!

The sun shone black, people were taken aback,
The winds were filled with prayers;
Conquerer was she, but she did see,
That their brutality dried up her tears.

The firmaments cried, when she died,
Her destiny played a horrible game
But she was fearless, she fought till end,
Nirbhaya was her name.

NIRBHAYA MEANS FEARLESS
